Audrey's 21st birthday - 14/11/2009

I am supposed to post this last week, but I was kinda lazy and kept procrastinating. Anyway, better late than never right? xD

Almost 2 weeks back, attended my cousin Audrey's 21st birthday party at her place. I was informed it was a BBQ party. But when I got there, I saw lots of catering food, chicken curry and rice, KFC and steamboat instead. It was raining that night, so no BBQ. I of course went straight to the steamboat where the tom yam soup is already boiling hot, muahahaha.

A lot of her friends and relatives came over to her place and the place was very crowded.

See, got photographer somemore le, macam super star, don't play play, lolz. Actually that's her college mate, hehe. Audrey was super duper busy entertaining guests and accepting prezzies of course =D I just spent my time there eating steamboat and playing twister with the kids =P

Here are some photos of that night to share...

Playing UNO 'jenga' game. Lots of screaming and shouting can be heard when the piles of block fell.

Daniel Boii 'bak pau' face after played the game over and over and over again, wakakaka...

Posing while discussing something before a game of Twister.

Getting ready to play Twister. Can't remember what seemed to amuse them at that time.

Halfway way throughout the game. Everyone was down on four on their feet and hands. I forfeited the game halfway when my ah ma asked me to call my bro to come over after he finished work. Can't remember who was the last one standing in the end.

After all those bending and stretching, it was karaoke time! Posed before their turn to sing xD

After all those activities, it was photo taking time with the birthday girl and her cake. Friends and families all took turn and there were lots of flashes of light. *kha chak* *kah chak* The only thing missing was the autograph session, blek...

And lastly of course, a solo photo of the birthday girl and her cake.

ps: don't have a clear photos of her bf with her, so didn't get to share here =D

Azuma @ QBM

After visiting the career fair last Saturday at PISA, my friend treated me to Azuma at QBM for some Japanese food. We browsed through the menu before we went in to check the price and found it to be quite reasonable on the set meal. Some of the ala carte and side dishes are kinda over-priced in my opinion or maybe Japanese food is always expensive all these while =\

It was my first visit to Azuma, so I was not very sure what to order and surprisingly no one ever suggested this place to me ever since it was open a few months back, hmmm...

Anyway, we decided to order a set meal to share and some side dishes.

My chopstick and saucer. Appeared to be blur, but it seems to look alright when I previewed it in my friend's mobile phone -.-''

Hotplate butter enoki mushroom. This dish was served very hot and from the photo you can see the steam rising from the enoki mushroom. This is nice and very fragrance but drawback is I don't really taste any butter on the mushrooms. The hotplate seems to absorb every bit of it.

Another shot of the enoki mushroom from a different angle. Less steam in the photo xD

Our unagi from our set meal. I forget to snap the full set meal. We were busy distributing the set that I only remember once we were done, zzz... The set actually comes with a miso soup, a chawamushi, a bowl of rice and some fruits. The unagi is just ok for me. Tasted the same as any other Japanese restaurant, nothing to really shout about.

We ordered the salmon which is on promotion on the month of November. The original price is at RM25 but for the whole November, you can enjoy it for the price of only RM10/plate. Per plate consisted of 5 thick juicy salmon slices. One word described it: ONZ!! I can say this is one of the best salmon I tasted so far. Two thumbs up from me =D

We ordered another plate of the salmon. Both of us can't have enough of it, lolz. This plate actually have 6 slices, I think it was because some of the slices were smaller. But nevertheless, still tasted as great as the first plate. My friend is a very big fan of Japanese food. And while she was enjoying her salmon, she was like floating in mid air -.-''

Our dessert, free if you dine in. A small scoop of vanilla with oats, though tasted like nestum to me, haha. It was nice, but a bit too sweet for me, hehe.

Overall it was a nice meal and I actually enjoyed it xD

Ikan Bakar @ Hammer Bay

My cousins came to visit me last Tuesday evening and dragged me to watch a movie with them. Eileen wanted to watch Surrogate but it's no longer being played so we ended up watching Phobia 2. Not a bad movie and it's not really that scary for me, but I wouldn't recommended it for the faint hearts. The sound effects could really shock the hell out of ya -.- I actually like the last story the most. Scary story with a nice twist of humour and plots in it, and when the whole truth comes out, it even actually make sense, haha. I would recommend just to watch the last story =P

After movie we headed down to Hammer Bay for ikan bakar. Hammer Bay is one of the famous Malay seafood stall in Penang. And it's only like 5 mins away from QBM.

Our teh-o ice limau, always ordered this drink whenever we are there. It becoming like a habit =x

I normally order the kangkung belacan but Eileen suggested the sayur campur. My advise, stick to the kangkung belacan. The veggies is under cooked and tasted very bland =\ The pieces of fish meat even looked like raw sashimi -.-''

My cousins' favourite dish, sotong goreng tepung. Eileen ordered a plate for 4 person even though there were only 3 of us. Nice to be eaten hot xD

Our ikan bakar, the White Siakap. Nice!!~~ Especially when dip with the spicy sambal.

I highly recommend this place to all ikan bakar lovers, but one note though, come early if plan to dine at Hammer Bay. There been some occasion where we would come for supper and the fish would be 'over-baker-ed' and very dry. There tend to be more people later in the nite so I guess while rushing the food they somehow overburnt it =\

Mini Gathering @ Ingolf's Kneipe

Had a mini gathering last sat with some of my high school mates. Been quite a while since we had this kinda gathering and been quite a while since I last came out. Been cooped up in my house for past few weeks. I think the last time I actually went out and hanged out with my friends was during Dann's birthday, which I also stayed for just a while.

So it's was kinda nice and relax to come out and just hang out with friends again. We went to Ingolf's Kneipe for our dinner. I made this last minute reservation to the restaurant as it was a last minute change of plan and a last minute decision to go there =x Fortunately for us, there was still a last table for 6 paxs, waiting for us xD

I been there a few times before, so I know better then to just walk in and hope there is still some vacant tables. The place is always pack at night, even during weekdays. If you plan to go there next time, it would be wise to make an early reservation. I wouldn't say much about the environment and ambiance but the food, superb. A must visit for anyone who never been there, furthermore, there is not much German restaurant you can find around Penang island.

We took photos of the food we ordered, just for the purpose to show them to one of our friend who 'airplane' us last minute, haha. I took the liberty given to me and share some of the photos here =D

Banana Split. I can't recall how much this cost but Lorence ordered this for her son. Cute and very shy kid, haha.

Chicken Sausage with hash brown and lots of salad. I recommended this to Sharon, as I had this the last time I was there. It was good for my taste bud, luckily she agreed with me, lolz.

Curry Chicken Sausage with lots of fries and salad. Irene ordered this and I managed to taste a small piece of the sausage. The sausages were well seasoned and I can smell the nice aroma of curry haha. The taste, good, deserves a thumb up xD

Pork Sausage with mashed potato and lots of salad. Guat Fong ordered this. Don't know how it taste like, but she doesn't complain I think. I only remember her complaining about the portion being too big, haha. So I guess it was not bad as well =D

Breaded Porkchop with lots of potato wedges and salad. Lorence ordered this for herself and her son. Very large portion and very filling, haha. I tasted this before, it was nice.

I ordered the today special, Homemade Porkpatties with mashed potato, mushrooms and salad. It comes with a bottle of German Warsteiner Beer (photo below). The alchohol contain is not that high, I think around 2.x% if I am not mistaken and it is less bitter than those beer such as Carlsberg or Heineken.

And last but not least, of course, our group photo xD

All in all, it was a fun and tiring night. Good food, nice place, a great way to just hang out and catch up with each other lives. Hope to have more such gathering in the near future.
