China House @ Beach Street

Visited China House few weeks back just to try the very famous tiramisu. Been getting these rave comments from my friends on just how good it is. Tempted, thought I give it a try, though I don't really like sweet desserts =x

Went with my cousins, and we sat near the entrance.

Adreana and I ordered the milkshakes. Can't remember the name of the milkshakes as they didn't leave a good impression for us. Both milkshakes are very bland and too 'watery' to actually be a milkshake -.-

KL ordered the blended juice, combinations of mango, orange and another fruit which I can't remember. The mango overpowered the other flavors but still, it was way a lot better than the milkshakes.

Complimentary drinks. Plain water served in a big glass bottle. If only we knew earlier we are going to be given this =\

The famous Tiramisu with Kahlua. RM12 per slice. Quite a big piece, need at least 2 or maybe 3 person to share among each other. The tiramisu is slightly different from the normal tiramisu. Instead of cocoa power sifted on top of the cake, it has some sort of sweet coated nuts. Overall the cake was too sweet to my liking and I feel it's a bit overrated =P

Italian Cream, not sure if I remember the name correctly. I prefer this over the tiramisu. Not too sweet and it has a cheesy taste to it. RM12 per slice too albeit it's a smaller portion.

Shelves with some books and magazines.

I went out to the open courtyard to take some photos. It was a hot sunny day, so no one occupy all the tables there. Managed to take some shots of the 'empty' courtyard =D
The open courtyard stretches to a lounge at the end. There is actually a second entrance to China House from Victoria Street. The lounge is not open during the day, so I didn't get to take any photo of it.

Hazy Weekend...

Once again Penang is covered by haze. Was at home this afternoon and when I walked out to the balcony, all I can see was thick haze, blanketing the sky. I can smelled a slight burning smell. Guess it would be like this for a while, till the haze goes away I guess.

Smokey version of Pulau Jerejak.

Can hardly see the building in the far distance.

Jade Blossom Restaurant @ 1st Avenue

My friends both this voucher which offered 7 course meal at Jade Blossom Restaurant. And I was treated to this meal, hehe. Jade Blossom located in 1st Avenue is the newly open branch in Penang. The first branch is located at Krystal Point. Only been there once though.

Our food were served all at once except for the desserts.

Hot and Sour Soup

Prawn Pieces with Fermented Rice Sauce

Soft Shell Crab Pieces with Egg Threads and Oats

Chicken Pieces in Lemon Sauce

Braised Whelk Abalone

Jade Blossom Fried Rice

And last but not least, our desserts.
Sweetened Pumpkins with Sweet Corn

All in all, the food were rather disappointing. They were served cold and the portions were rather small for 4 pax. Maybe because we were using voucher, but if this is the standard of the food, then I don't think I'll be coming back with or without voucher.

Behind 50 @ Love Lane

Been here for quite a few times now, but I always forgot to bring my camera along. So this time I make sure I have my camera with me, hehe... I first heard of this place from my friend but when it was initially open, the opening hours was different from how it is now. They used to close in the afternoon after lunch time, so whenever we went, it was closed -.-'' But thanks to the new revised opening hours, it's rather convenient now.

My friend and I just went there for a drink that night. It was after our dinner and if I was not too full, I would have order the mushroom soup. They are somewhat famous for their mushroom soup. I tried it once and it was not bad, would recommend to any first diner there :)

Nicely wrapped menu

Creative, but kinda scary. Wonder if the basket might fall, hmm...

Light bulb surrouned by spoons and a dried chili.

The walls of 'frames'. If you a good photo, you can request them to hang your photo as well.

My friend ordered this but I can't remember what it's called. Something with mint.

Old toys which kids nowadays would have no idea how to enjoy them. *Sigh*

The Cruises Steak House @ Logan Heritage, Penang

A late post, was supposed to blog this last week but was caught up with something else. Can't remember what though -.-'' But anyway, going to quickly post this up, hehe...

Actually went here for dinner the same day I went to the Lighthouse Coffee. It is just next to it, rather convenient I would say. It was 7pm when we decided to walk over and the place was already packed with people. Almost a fullhouse, luckily we made reservation earlier. We were using voucher, so we need to make reservation anyway, hehe.

Our Ice Lemon Tea.

Mushroom Soup with some croutons.

Honey Lamb, with the voucher I only got 2 pieces of lamb. If you order from the menu, you'll get 3 pieces. The meat is a bit overdone, so they were a bit hard. But the taste is quite good though, the honey is not that sweet.

Grilled Cheese Fish, very big portion. My friend having a hard time finishing it, haha. But she managed in the end xD

Ice-cream dessert. Nothing much to say about this, just normal ice-cream.

Complimentary drinks. Somehow we were given this despite using the vouchers. Not complaining though, just wondering haha. Non-alcoholic, tasted a bit like ice-cream soda. I like the color, blek..

Lots of customers. Everyone seems to be enjoying their meals.

The stage of live band. Seems like that have live music unplugged band available on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday night. I went on Saturday T_T

Love the ship, very detailed craftsmanship.
