Finalized and confirmed...

Finally, got my confirmation on my hotel accommodation and train booking. Going to fly this Friday and I just got my hotel confirmation -.-''

My first time out from Malaysia after a very long time. The only place out of Malaysia I been to were Singapore and Bangkok. And I actually never expected that I would get to travel to Europe xD But I'll be going there alone, and there would be no one to pick me up at the airport. I'll have to say, I am actually quite scare, hahaha...

Anyway got most of things settled except for my packing. Think I'll leave the packing to tomorrow. Kinda tired and I only managed to get myself one jacket for the trip. Might need to buy a luggage as well, ughh...

Going to be there for 10 days, so till then... stay tune for photos updates =P

Another belated birthday present...

Got this flip-flop as a belated birthday present from a friend. I actually chose it myself, but do I like it? Not really but I don't hate it either. I actually didn't like any of the designs range that are on display. If I got a choice, I wouldn't even choose it. But you don't really have much of a choice when someone asked you to just "cincai" choose any of the design and complained that she looked all over the shopping mall for a size 4 or 5 and this is the only shop that has them.

I am not complaining for getting a present, and I wouldn't mind if she never get me any. But normally if I am to get a present, especially birthday present for the person I care about, I would make sure that the person would like what I would be getting for them. I won't be "cincai" choosing random gifts just for the sake of getting a gift. "Cincai" getting a gift for someone is when the person is not really that close to me.

So, when someone that I really care about, asked me to just "cincai" choose something which I don't even like as a birthday present for myself, honestly, words couldn't describe how I felt that time. I would have prefer if she just "cincai" make the pick herself without me being there. At least not knowing is better than knowing.

Anyway, thanks for the present.

A trip gone bad...

Was kinda excited about last weekend. After some messy planning, we managed to settle a date for our Cameron trip. Got up early, around 4am for a quick shower and to fetch Su Yan and Daniel. After that we headed over to meet another friend at the "perhentian" next to the Penang Bridge's tolls. Was going to borrow his GPS.

I stop at the side, leave my signal still on. Was browsing for my friend's name in my mobile phone, and when I found it, there was a loud screech behind us and BANG!! Our car was hit very hard from behind, and I could heard my back car window shattered to pieces. I was thrown to the front and hit my chest against the steering wheel. *again -.-* My mobile phone flew out from my hand. Luckily I was still wearing my seat belt. I could feel Daniel banged against the back of my seat.

I turned to my passenger side to check if Su Yan is ok. Then I quickly went down to check on Daniel. He was my biggest concern as he was sitting at the back seat. But when I got out from the car, Daniel was already outside and scolding the guy -.-'' Thanks God, he's alright. I went to check the back of my car, and what I saw is very heart breaking T_T

In just less than 3 minutes, my car is wreaked.

The whole back window shattered, one of the side light shattered, the bumper I don't think would be usable anymore and the bonnet half "kemik" When I saw my car, I was like, what the hell, how f***ing fast did the stupid driver drove anyway? And is he blind or what?

My friend's car was a few distant behind my car. And he said that he saw the van came out very fast and straight ramped into my car. Bloody fool.

The metal, "kemik" and "torn". I don't know what's the right term to describe the metal when it turned like that.

My shattered window, all over the road. Notice the large area of the glasses, the impact from the collision pushed our car forward to quite a distant.

The impact was so hard that my car even went up the pavement.

And this is the van that hit us. Even the van itself suffered quite a damage. So you could imagine how fast that idiot was driving.

The driver just kept quiet throughout the whole thing. He doesn't look local to me, so maybe he don't understand Malay and too dumb to understand English. But what frustrated me the most was after banging into our car, he and his "konco" tried to put the blame on us and make it our fault. "#%@#^@#$^@#^"

I made a police report and got my car towed for repair. Hopefully, I can claim all the cost from him. In the end, what matter the most is everyone is ok and no one got hurt. Well, except me. Just after I got my ribs healed from my previous accident, I have to get them cracked again. So.... wish me for a speedy recovery =x

08.09.10 simple celebration...

08.09.10 marked a special date for Adrena. It was her birthday. We went out for a simple celebration. I actually had other plan in mind, wanted to make it a more special celebration but due to some unforeseen circumstances and some "unforeseen individuals", we had to make it simple instead.

We headed over to 7 Bistro at Gurney Plaza, newly opened replacing a shop which I couldn't remember.

The interior of the place is not bad. Very typical bistro feel to it. White chairs and tables setting. Would be a nice place to just hang out, chill and have a drink with some buddies.

The price of the food is reasonable as well. Actually, unexpectedly much cheaper than I thought it would be. The appetizers, soups and desserts is RM7 all day long if I am not mistaken. The main course is RM11 before 7pm and RM13 after 7pm. Drinks of course is charge accordingly to what you ordered. There is a separate menu for beers, cocktails and liquors.

Kee Lee asked me to snap this. She said normally it would be salt and pepper, but here they placed chili flakes and cheese powder.

My Minty Melon Refresher. It's actually just Honeydew with peppermint, hehe. I kinda like it, but Adrena said the minty smell is too strong.

Adrena's ordered the Peach and Strawberry Pleasure which is nice as well. As to what Kee Lee ordered, you guys gotta try it. Peanut Butter and Banana Shake!! I was reluctant to try it at first. The name kinda scared me off a little, hehe. But I took a sip and it was surprising very nice. Seriously, gotta try it to believe it xD

Mixed Mushroom Aglio Olio. I ordered this. The portion is a bit small, but taste wise it was just ok, a bit bland. Couldn't really see much mushroom either.

Spaghetti Frutti de Mere (Mixed Seafood Spaghetti). Kee Lee ordered this, small portion as well. Seems like all the pastas comes in small portion. Tasted better than my aglio olio.

Grilled Lamb Chops with Romesco and Mint Sauce. Adrena's main dish. Quite a large piece of lamb, very flavorful but it was kinda tough. Maybe should have ordered it 70% done instead of 50%, hmm...

A couple of friends joined us after our dinner. Both of them just got off from work. Headed over to Coffee Bean for another mini celebration, haha.

The birthday cake we bought for Adrena. Blueberry Cheesecake.

We then ended the night with a midnight movie of Phua Chu Kang. Thought it would be very funny, but it was kinda boring. Adrena even fell asleep halfway throughout the movie -.-''

Well, that warped up the whole night out. And I just hope Adrena had a good time =D

Cooking attempt on homecooked meals xD

As what I mentioned in my previous post, Adrena and Ee Jane came over my place again to do some cooking. I stayed over at Adrena's house the night before so we can go to the market early the next morning. She woke me up at around 8.30am and it took 43 miss calls to wake EJ up -.-'' So we reached the market more than an hour late, zzz...

We headed over to Rifle Range's market and bought some wet and dry ingredients. Then we headed over to Tesco to buy some packets and cans goods.

Ingredients we used:
First plate - Baby carrots (chopped), Asparagus (cut) and Onions (sliced)
Second plate - Broccoli (cut), Tomatoes (cut), Green Bell Pepper (cut) *which we ended up never used* and some Red Chili Padi (chopped)

Squids, Prawns and Dried Shrimps. *I don't take prawns but I ended up the one peeling off the skin =x*

Three big chicken drumsticks (boneless and skinless xD)

First bowl - Onions (chopped), Shallots (sliced)
Second bowl - Crab meats (cut)

Lots of kangkung @_@

Chopped garlic

Cooked Rotini. *I cooked this, muahaha =P*

Ingredients group photo, blek.

Photos of the Chef and her sous chef, hehe...

Sous chef in training.

Chef giving some cooking tips to her sous chef.

Well, in case any of you are wondering, yes, I didn't cook any of the dishes. I held the role of testing the food, wakakaka... Oh, oh, and also giving out instructions from the recipes we printed out from the internet, keke. And I did most of the cleaned up as well T_T Voluntarily though, as I don't want the kitchen to look like a mess when my owner comes back today.

Anyway, now for the dishes ^-^v

Chicken drumsticks with mushroom sauce. The sauce is nice, but the chicken was kinda bland as we didn't marinate them with anything -.-

Ee Jane's burnt scrambled eggs with button mushroom. Over-fried and very dry. As muc as I like to eat eggs, but I don't like burnt eggs, blek. EJ had to eat most of it.

Mixed veggie with oyster sauce gravy. This was not bad but I only ate the enoki mushroom. The gravy was nice, I think due to the oyster sauce.

Kangkung Sambal Belacan. This was nice as well. Ate quite a lot of it. I like kangkung belacan.

Sambal Sotong. The dish we most looked forward to and the dish least tasty, haha. The sambal sauce is nice, but the squids were tasteless. Maybe it was not simmer long enough for the sauce to soak into the squids. Though the squids were already very cooked, to simmer even longer would resulted in rubbery squids? o.O

And this, our very own customized minestrone soup. Cooked too much of this. Asked Adrena to bring the whole pot back. Too bad Audrey not in Penang, think this is one of her favourite soup.

Tadah!! Group photo of all the dishes. All in big portions, enough to feed 5 - 6 people at least. And there were only 3 of us, zzzz...

But all in all, it was quite a good attempt. Might try again next time, but hopefully not so soon =P Cleaning up is tiring -.-''

An Attempt on Cooking...

It all started when Ee Jane IM-ed me in facebook last night. She said she was bored to death and asked if want to hang out. I told her if Adrena wants to come out and if they are coming QBM, then I don't mind coming out, blek. And at around 12pm++ today, I received an sms "Get ready!! We are coming now!!" Zzzz... just like that, with no warning or any kind of confirmation whatsoever -.-''

I hurried to shower and get myself ready. They reached my place a short while later and off we went to QBM. It was a bit past lunch time when we got there but the place was still full of people. I always thought there would be less people on the actual festive season, guess I was proven wrong. We walked around for quite a long while, indecisive of where to take our lunch. We finally decided on "Rou Ku Cha King", not sure if I spelled it right, hmm...

It was my first time eating here and I ordered this spicy soup rou ku cha. Looks spicy? Well, don't let the photo fool you, it was TOTALLY NOT spicy at all, swt. Not much to comment on the food.

While we were having our lunch, we suddenly had this idea of trying to cook rendang. Maybe we were affected by the raya madness, hehe. So after our lunch, we headed over to buy some ingredients for rendang at Jusco. Headed back to my place to do the cooking. My owner was away for the holiday, so I got the whole place to myself. We even got to use the parking lot xD

Chef in the making, Chef Adrena

EJ was in charge of cutting the potatoes and also the beef. The outcome of the potatoes, in hot boiling water.

Sauteing the beef.

Cooking the rendang paste.

Adding in the coconut milk and beef.

Mixing in the potatoes.

Letting it simmer.

Tadah! An epic failure!! Wakakaka... Ok la, it didn't taste that bad. But we might have put too much coconut milk, that it overpowered the curry taste.

Oh, by the way, I didn't cook or prepared the dish. I was busy setting up something in EJ's lappy. And I so happened to be the guinea pig for the dish =\ Well, none of us suffer from tummy ache or end up in the hospital so I guess I could say it was a partial success? =P

Both of them are planning to "lepak" over at my place again tomorrow, so we'll be doing more attempts on cooking different dishes. Hopefully it'll be better then xD

Wish us lucks!!~~

Sri Malaya Heritage Restaurant

Went for a mini dinner gathering with my long time friends last Saturday. Been quite a while since the last time the four of us came out together. If I am not mistaken it was last year during CNY, hahaha. More than a year, kinda long -.-''

We went to this place, suggested by Ai Ling, Sri Malaya Heritage Restaurant. We were having some minor directions issues at first, but once we found Chulia Street, it get pretty easy from there. The restaurant is located on Rope Walk, a junction off Chulia Street, and with a very striking yellow, the building is easily noticeable from the road.

We reached there quite early in the evening, but the place was already half full. Some even made reservations. We were lucky to grab the last table available.

The menu, I sorta like the "Welcome" wording which is written in several different languages.

Avocado and Mango Smoothies. They are well-known for their Avocado Smoothie, and by the time we made our order, they only had 2 avocado left. So we ended up ordered 1 Mango Smoothies. Soo Ying ordered the Apple Orange Smoothies, which doesn't look that appealing to me, blek.

Curry Laksa. Soo Ying ordered this and I just took a sip of the soup. Very fragrant, nice curry aroma but the tastewise, it was bland. It somewhat tasted like diluted curry soup =x

Carbonara Fecttuccine with Smoked Salmon and Wild Mushroom. Irene and I ordered the same main. Generous amount of salmon and mushroom, and the fecttuccine is nicely cooked, al dente. Tastewise, it was just mediocre for me. I actually expected more from it as it is a recommended dish from the menu.

Malaya Spaghetti with Prawn, Fresh Basil and Peppercorn. Ai Ling ordered this because it has prawn in it -.- Another aromatic dish, very strong basil fragrant. I tried some and it has some herb-by herb-by taste. It was nice, and I kinda like it xD

Sri Malaya also caters events or private functions. There were two birthday celebrations being held while we were dining there. Nice and pleasant place to dine and hang out.

Do drop by the place if you happen to be in the area =D
