Audrey is back in Penang for the week and we decided to have some kind of gathering dinner before she flies off to Singapore again. So last night, we went over to Blue Reef Fish & Chips which is located at Casa Permai 2, Tanjung Bungah.
We arrived there a bit late past our reservation time, but the waitress still greeted us with a friendly smile. We initially reserved the tables outside, but sensing that there wasn't much breeze last night, we decided to move inside.
The interior environment, simple but pleasant.
There's even a bar counter at the side. Not really sure if it's a bar counter though, cause if not mistaken they prepare the drinks behind the counter.
Cutlery, like the different design of the knife.
We didn't really took a long time to decide our orders, despite none of us been here before. Each of us ordered a different dish from the others.
I kinda like the bottle, looks nice, hehe. But we are not sure what's the clear liquid in it. Most probably is just plain water, we think.
Coca-cola Float, Daniel ordered this. I was looking for the ice-cream, but I couldn't seem to find it. Think it was hiding somewhere between the ice and foam.
Hot Latte, Audrey ordered this while I ordered the cold one. I forgot to snap my cold latte. It was a very big glass and kinda worth the price but it was also somewhat diluted and tasted a bit like nescafe =x
Here comes our main course xD
I'll start off with the fish.
Here comes our main course xD
I'll start off with the fish.
Fish & Chip - Mahi-Mahi fish, battered style. Quite a big piece of fish, served with fries and a generous portion of veggie. Tar-tar sauce is served on a separate small saucer.
Fish & Chips - Alaskan Codfish, crumbled style. Another big piece of fish as well. It was less oily than the battered style in my opinion. Also served with fries and veggie
Grilled Fish - Garoupa fish. I ordered this, as I don't want to take fried and oily food. I am not much of a fan when it comes to fish, but this doesn't taste that bad. It was a bit bland for me though, so I added some pepper and salt to the fish.
Now for the chicken. Yes, Blue Reef is not all about fishes =P

Chicken Schnitzel. It's actually chicken chop cooked with bread crumbs and served with fries and veggie. The gravy served in an Aladin's lamp, hehe. Daniel seems to enjoy it a lot.
Grilled Chicken Miso. The chicken is marinated in Miso and grilled. Accompanied by a portion of garlic cous cous, zucchini and blanched veggies.
Glazed Paprika Chicken. Grilled chicken breast marinated in some herbs and paprika seasoning, accompanied with mash sweet potato and blanched veggies. Served with red wine and mushroom gravy.
Now for the last dish...
Now for the last dish...
Lamb Cutlet. Grilled NZ lamb, accompanied by mash sweet potato and blanched veggies. I asked Doni how was it, he said it was ok. Not really much of an appealing answer, blek.
Overall, it was a satisfactory dining experience and the price is reasonable as well. Do drop by to try their signature fish & chips. And they also have kids menu if you happen to bring your kids along.
