Beach Blanket Babylon

Went to try out Beach Blanket Babylon with my cousins sometimes last month. Thought it would be a good idea to try out a new place once in a while. Read the reviews on the net, mostly recommended it.

I'll make this post some sort of a picture story telling kinda way. Easier, as blogspot can be pretty on the 'hard' side lots of time =\

All of us went for the 5-course dinner set meal, as it was cheaper than ordering the Ala carte. The first course would be the appetiser of course. Some greens stuffs and purple 'grass' was presented to me. I am not a fan and never will be of veggies. And that whole plate of veggies looked like wild grasses to me. Struggled to finish my 'grass', it was horrible and dry, uughh. My cousins just commented it was dry, apart from that, they were very 'OK' with the taste =.=

Next up would be the soup. We were served with Minestrone soup. It was quite good. Not too sour, just right. I would say it was the best dish for that night.

Audrey ordered the Spagetti Goulash. I didn't try it but she just said it tasted ok. My other cousin sister said they over-cooked the spegetti, as it was pretty soft.

Linguini Aglio Olio, ordered by Adrena. The best main dish out from all the rest. She enjoyed it a lot, finished the whole plate shiny clean. So I guess, action speaks louder than word ^^

My cousin bro, Doni ordered the Lamb Chop. In the menu, it stated that it would be sizzling. But instead of coming in a hot plate and sizzle, it was actually served in a normal plate and not sizzle -.- I think the waiter made a mistake when taking our orders. He didn't repeat our orders either to double check. Anyway, Doni just settled for the 'wrong' lamb chop and cut all of us a small piece of the lamb. Not really that nice for me, nothing special, tasted just like those lamb chop which you can just order at any western food stall. Doni claimed the dish was cold. A supposed to be hot sizzling dish turned out to be a cold non-sizzling dish. What a major turned off, zzz.

I ordered the Fettucini Carbonara, which was quite nice. Creamy and cheesey, just the way I like it. But it could have been better.

Daniel ordered the BBQ chicken. The chicken was soft and tender, flavourful as well with the bbq sauce. Albeit I didn't tasted or smell any rosemary on it which they stated is included in the menu. Overall, it was just average in my opinion.

I don't have the photo for the last main course. Suffer from PHD, I can't recalled what it was that my cousin sis ordered. But anyway, she was very dissapointed with it, so I don't see the need to elaborate more on it =x

We got a slice of cake each for our dessert. There were only 5 choices of cakes to choose from, so we ordered a slice from all 5 just to test all of them. I didn't managed to taste all of them, as I was busy trying to snap a photo of the menu. Snapped a few but all the photos turned out blur. Gave up in the end, and by that time most of the cakes where gone -.- Only managed to eat 2 of the cakes, which I think were Tiramisu and White Chocolate Cheese cake. Both were equally nice, though I like the White Chocolate Cheese cake better. All the cakes were heated up before served to us, so they were warm, soft and err... fluffy? o.O

The ambiance of the place is nice. Relaxing and quite romantic. But overall, the food is just mediocre. Expected the food would be more than average, from the price of the food. Nothing to shout about, really. But anyone that want to try out the place, please do. I have very weird taste bud, so don't trust everything I said, hehe. The place is located at Upper Penang Road, just opposite E & O Hotel.
