Simple Birthday Dinner

Went out with my closest friend from high school on the night of my birthday. I almost cancel it as I was having pain on my chest due to my previous accident. I actually cancelled my lunch with another friend due to it. Was experiencing the pain on the night before my birthday and it went on till the next day, zzz... It got a bit better during the night, so I decided not to cancel it.

Initially she planned to bring me to a Swiss Restaurant somewhere in the Jetty area, but it was closed that day. So we decided to go to Salsa which is near Upper Penang Road. We parked our car at Red Garden car park, and just as we were about to get out, it started to rain very heavily, swt. Even after armed with an umbrella, we were still drenched wet straight after gotten out from the car. We went back into the car and re-think our next destination, haha. It's quite a distance from the car park to Salsa, and judging from the heavy rain and ferocious wind, we came to a conclusion that it was safer to just go somewhere else and not take risk under the thunderstorm.

Clueless of where to go, I just kept driving till we reached Island Plaza and I turned into Prima Tanjung. That was when we spotted this restaurant. Since neither of us been here before, so we thought why not give it a try. The rain was not as heavy as before, but I still park near the shop lots, just in case, blek.

Taipei Food Avenue, this is how the restaurant looks like from the road.

The menus for the set meals are hanged just beside the entrance. Customers can briefly browse through on the meals they serve before they decide to dine in. My friend and I did just that but we were too hungry to think much at that time. So we just went in, wakakaka...

Most of the dishes in the menu are set meals, which is good actually, for me at least as I prefer to order set meals. The price is quite reasonable as well, ranging from RM1x.xx to RM2x.xx. Set meals comes with soup, rice, main dish, side dish, dessert and drink.

Spoon and chopsticks. Basic cutlery in a chinese restaurant. Honestly, I still haven't really grasp the correct technique of holding and using the chopstick *pai seh la*

The set meal my friend ordered. Can't remember what's it called, only know it was chicken in a claypot. My friend gave me some of the chicken and it was actually quite good. My friend enjoyed it a lot xD

Mine!! Hehe.. I ordered the sweet and sour pork ribs and this is one of the best sweet and sour pork ribs I ever tasted. The sauce is very thick and the sourness and sweetness of the sauce is just right. Nice!! Thumbs up from me xD

My dessert, Fried Ice Cream!! Been quite a while since I last had this. It was very popular when it was first introduced in Malaysia. It was served to me at the end of my meal. And I still remember asking my friend how come she has dessert and I don't. Her set meal comes with green beans sago as the dessert and was served to her along with her main dish. And I was just asking out of curiosity.

When my friend went to pay the bill, I noticed the newspaper clipping they stick to the wall. I can't read Chinese so I don't understand what it says, but my friend told me the newspaper was promoting their restaurant. Their are more newspaper clipping, but I only took 2 photos of them. Guess the place is more well-known than I thought it was.

Well, those of you who still haven't try this place, why not give it a try. Good food and reasonable price. And I have to thank my friend for treating me to this simple but nice dinner xD *though we actually found this place by chance xD*
