Daorae Korean BBQ Restaurant

Celebrated Shu's birthday last month at Daorea, a Korean BBQ Restaurant at Bayan Point. Wanted to blog about this sooner, but was waiting for my friend to lend me the cable to her digital camera. But after I managed to transfer everything to my lappy, I was to busy to process the photos. Been busy at work lately, came back too tired to do anything else. Well, anyway, better late than never.

It was my first time dining at Daorea, albeit it's been open for quite sometime now and not to mention it's quite near to my house. Not really a fan of Korean food, especially kimchi. And the place always come across to me as pricey =x

I initially thought that they only serve bbq food, but as I browsed through the menu, there are a lot of ala carte to choose from.

Every table is equipped with this chute, which can be pulled up and down. It will suck most of the smoke from the bbq. And if I remember correctly, the charcoal they used are also smokeless.

A large lump of veggie. Not sure what veggie it was. We are supposed to wrap the cooked bbq meat with the veggie and eat them together. But I don't remember anyone of us did that, haha.

Some of the complimentary side dishes. The side dishes on the first photos are actually refillable. This is the first time I went to a restaurant which offers refillable free side dishes @.@ Not bad huh?

The bbq pit with burning hot charcoal underneath. Didn't managed to snap the charcoal when the waiter brought it in, but as you can see from the photo, there is no smoke coming out from the pit.

Marinated pork meat, ready to be cooked xD

Top side done.

Done and cut into small pieces. The bbq-ing process till the cutting process are all done by the waiter.

The waiter wasted no time and continued bbq-ing the marinated chicken meat when he was done with the pork meat.

While he was busy with the bbq, our ala carte arrived. Didn't snap any photos of the ala carte dishes except for mine and TK's (cause he sat beside me and I managed to curi snap =P)

My kimchi fried rice. If you are a kimchi fan, then you would like this dish. The fried rice was very flavorful of kimchi.

TK's ala carte, can't remember what it's called. There is rice inside the soup and it comes with one whole small chicken. Very filling dish I would say.

After our meal, each of us were given a bowl of this. Another complimentary dish, and it looked intimidating when they were served to us, haha. Not sure what it was, all of us drank it. It tasted like the soup for tang yuen except that there was no tang yuen in it.

Watermelon for dessert.

The aftermath.....

Seating arrangement on the second floor, tatami style. Need to take off our shoes we could enter this section.

After our meal, we continue to hang around and chat till it was almost closing time. Its been quite a while since I last met them. We don't really hang out as much as we used to anymore. But still keep in touch once in a while.
