New Mural Arts @ Gat Lebuh Chulia

Finally some time to blog. Been very busy at work lately. Working till 11pm or past midnight has become a norm for the past few weeks. And I just came back from a business trip in China 2 weeks back. Got back in time for the Deepavali and Raya holidays.

Thought I could get come rest but instead I went out on both that days -_-'' So much for getting a good rest at home. Anyway, got to know from my friend of a local artist that been painting the same mural concept as Ernest. And I saw some photos already been posted in Facebook.

So I went hunting for it last Tuesday with SY and KL. It was not that hard to find. We reached Gat Lebuh Chulia and there were already a crowd at one of the 'lorong'. Only then did we noticed that the artist were hard at work on his second mural at one of the lorong and the other lorong is where the 'swing' mural is. We managed to find a parking spot, parked my car and headed to the swing first.

Dark Clouds

Took this photos of a huge fluffy dark clouds, as it attempted to cover up the whole sky. It rained heavily minutes after I took this shot. Still couldn't really get the color right. Gotta practice more I guess :)

First attempt at moon shooting

I was surfing through the net for settings, tips and tricks for taking good fireworks photos, when I came across this term 'set focus to infinity'. Saw the statement in almost every pages I read so I googled for the definition.

"It's meant for distant objects, where camera can't focus any longer just because of too long distance and also because at that long distance it's no longer any difference to change focus anymore."

Hmm... conclusion, setting the focus to infinity allows me to take sharp pictures of objects that are far away. Something popped in my head after I read that. Maybe I could test the setting by shooting the moon. I took out the camera and walked to the balcony. It was full moon last night, Chap Goh Mei night.

So I sat at the balcony, hoping no one would think I was a thief or anything, I started taking shots at the bright full moon. Trials and errors. Adjusted the setting here and there. First few tries were kinda bad. And finally I got 1 'good' shot. *good IMHO =P*

Thaipusam

Went to the Thaipusam event yesterday for some photo shoots. Never witnessed any Thaipusam celebration previously even after staying in Penang for more than 10 years. Went with SY after she voluntarily 'dared' to fetch me there with her bike. Didn't want to be stuck in the jam, I accepted her 'dare', blek.

Most of the major roads were blocked and some cars can be seen parked up a pavement or by the road side. We went in some roads in a housing estate to get to the temple. Reached there around 10am and went back around 11am, hahaha. Nothing much to shoot at, as they already carried and placed the chariot at the temple during midnight -.-

The stairs up to the temple full of people. SY and I were deciding if we should be climbing up as well. But in the end we decided to pass the idea. We only went a few steps up and stood at the side of the stairs. Took some shots from there.

We were on our way back when we saw a few people carrying the 'kavita'. I think it's called 'kavita', my apology if I am wrong on this. SY stop her bike at the road side a few meters in front of them and I took out my camera. Waited for them to pass by and took some shots.

Gotta respect them, not anyone can just carry the 'kavita' and walked barefoot all the way to the temple.

My colleague told me that I should go at night, more things to see and snap. But I am not sure if I plan to go again next time, guess we'll just see then xD

Christmas Past

In an blink of an eye, Christmas has came and leave. And just like that, Christmas is over. Spent both Christmas Eve and Christmas night at Straits Quay. Had a nice night out, it was nice, had some good laugh. But somehow, deep inside of me, I still feel something is missing. I still feel alone, despite everyone else were around me.

I guess I still haven't really let go of the past. What I felt last Christmas, few years back, still lingers in my mind. My heart aches everytime I think about it. Maybe it's a little less hard now, but it still pains me most of the time. Guess I just need to try much harder at letting go.

Anyway, Merry Belated Christmas to Everyone. Shared some photos which I took at Straits Quay. Hope you guys like them =)

Night shots test

Tested some night shots from the balcony with a D90. Normally, when using a normal digital camera, I would set an higher ISO for night shots. But my friend told me to leave the ISO as it is and just adjust the shutter speed instead. I am a noob when it comes to handling DSLR so I just listened to the 'pro' =P

First few shots came out blur, as my hands were shaky. Hate it whenever that happened. Tried to steady my hands and took a few more shots. Finally managed to get some decent shots. Shared the most 'decent' one here =P

Nice sky...

I was standing at the balcony when I saw the beautiful sky. Couldn't resist not taking photos of it. I don't have a camera though, so I can only took them with my lousy camera phone, blek. But they doesn't turn out half bad, so I guess it's acceptable. Can't expect too much from a camera phone anyway, can't I? T_T

I really like the orange glow effects the sun emits. I can visualize a beautiful sun set at the other side of the island. Too bad I can't see it. Well, anyway, hope the beauty of the sky can be seen from the photos I took, haha. And hope you guys like it xD

Sunrise at QB

I lend my friend's digital camera again for the last weekend. 2 weeks back when her camera was with me, I wanted to snap the sunrise near my place. But unfortunately, when I woke up that weekend, all I could saw outside my bedroom window was a very think layer of haze, zzz... Wasted my time waking up early, I went straight back to bed -.-

Last Friday I decided to stay awake the whole night. Spent my night facebook-ing, catch up some anime and chatting with my cousin, Daniel, haha. At around 6.30am, I went down from my apartment and walked to the bridge beside Putra Marine Resort. Took my car keys with me just in case. When I reached the bridge the sky was already quite bright and I was afraid that I might had miss the sunrise. I wanted to snap the Pulau Jerejak Jetty bridge but the light was already turn off. And I couldn't see the sun anywhere from where I was standing.

I walked back to my place feeling disappointed. Halfway back, I spotted this yellowish orangey fluffy cloud. Took a few shots of it. Sheena commented it looked like cotton candy, haha.

And when I turned to walk back to my place, I saw a massive red clouds just behind my apartment. Took a few shots of those as well.

And I thought to myself, would the view be nicer at Queensbay? Cause, Queensbay Mall is just somewhere behind my apartment which happened to be where the clouds seems to be. Well, since I miss the sunrise might as well take just take some photos of the aftermath or so I thought.

I drove to Queensbay, was lazy to walk, blek. But luckily I decided to drive instead of walk, else I might have miss this chance. As this is what I saw when I got there.

The outline of the sun, just on her way up from her deepest slumber. The rays of light, piercing through the clouds. It was a magnificent sight.

I parked my car at the side, immediately went out and started snapping away. Here are a few to share. Sorry for the same angle on all the photos, was too excited, my bad, haha.

How are the pictures? Nice? Of course not as good as those pros, but I am happy with them. I am actually more happy to watch the sun rise. Has always like the sunrise and sunset. And this is actually a beautiful experience for me xD

Kek Lok Si 2009

Went Kek Lok Si temple with my cousin, Eileen last week to pray and to look at the beautiful lighting close up. My friend can lend me her digital camera at the last minute and I used this oppotunity to snap lots of photos xD

I actually didn't realized I took a lot of photos and by the end of the night, when my friend transfered all the photos for me, there are over 200 of them, swt. Guess I kinda get carried away =P

It was hard to take a photo without the flash on. And having a shaky pair of hand made it much worst =.= Some of the photos didn't turn out good. A few were pretty blurry. Most of the photos didn't turned out very sharp, but still I am happy with them, hehe. I am no pro, so amatuer photo taking is all I can handle =D

Took both these photos straight after I parked my car. Was testing out the camera and making myself familar with it. Took lots of shot and only these two turned out fine, ughh...

My candle was among the many candles burning endlessly there. But I couldn't find it when I came back later with the camera, zzz...
