Blood Donation Campaign

There was a one day mini blood drive donation today at my workplace. The notice has been posted up in the bulletin a couple of weeks before. I told myself if circumstances permitted, I would go for the blood donation. It's not my first time going for a blood donation, but if I passed the preliminary tests then it would be my first time donating blood, haha. Well, everytime single time I went I was tested low blood pressure and not qualify to donate, zzz...

But not today, cause today I passed the test. Whee!!~~ Lalalala!!!~~ And no, I am not crazy, it's just I was too happy that I finally able to donate after being turned down for like 4 - 5 times if not mistaken T_T I was even surprised when the nurse told me I passed the blood count test. When the nurse told me "Pass", I was like "Huh?!? Pass arr? o.0"...

Next I moved to the next test, the scariest test of them all, the mighty blood pressure test, the last test that always prevent me from moving forward. The nurse strapped the strap thingy on my hand, asked about my medical history, if I been admitted for the past few months, blah blah blah.... I told her bout being admitted during my accident, blah blah blah... then she asked bout the accident, more blah blah blah...and after all the blahs... she said I pass and may proceed to donate. I even reconfirmed with her twice just to make sure, blek...

I walked out to meet my colleagues, and one of them can't make it. Her reason of not qualified to donate was because she took cough syrup last week when she was sick. My other colleague laughed at her, I also joined in to laugh at her =P We went to the next room to donate our blood once we were done laughing, haha...

I went to the counter, and watched the staff stick some stickers with lots of numbers to some documents. He passed me my new mini red book and off I went to bed xD I was actually nervous when I laid there on the bed, watching the nurse searching for my veins and swapping alcohol. While she poked the needle into my hand, she asked me to hold and squeeze some green sponge. I wanted to watch her poked the needle but her other hand blocked my view, zzz...

The second needle was actually a bit more painful than the first one. The second needle is slightly bigger as it is connected with the tube to the blood packet. *I am calling it blood packet cause I don't what it's called* To be honest, I was slightly terrified when I saw the second needle. But I still watched her poked it in and watched my blood flowed into the tube and down to the packet. I only need to donate 300ml of my blood, while my colleague needs to donate 450ml, haha. When she asked the nurse why she needed to donate more, the nurse just told her because she is bigger in size, hahaha.

But despite her donating more than me, she was done quicker than me. Somehow make me wonder if it was 450ml she donated =x Few minutes later, I was done with my 300ml and both of us need to lay down on the bed for a while longer for our blood to slowly circulate our whole body and make sure we won't feel any dizziness. After the nurse took off the needle I started taking pictures. Which the nurse scolded me afterward when I was ready to go T_T She said I should had remain still on the bed and let the blood slowly flow back and not wriggling around taking photos =.='' I was too excited ma =x

Anyway, here are some of the photos I managed to take while "wriggling" around on the bed =P

Done with my 300ml, the nurse covered the injection hole with a white cloth and asked me to lift my hand. This is to prevent my blood from splashing out like a water fountain. *Ok, I made that fountain thingy up*

After like 15 - 20 minutes later, the nurse took off the cloth, make sure my blood not splashing out like a water fountain, stick a plaster on it. And I still need to lift my hand and lay down for a while longer. This photo I curi snapped when the nurse walked away from my bed xD

Once we are confident that we were not dizzy and won't faint, we got off the bed to leave. That was when one of the nurse scolded me, zzz...

There were some light refreshment outside the room. I just took a cup of hot milo. Others enjoying their hot cup of milo as well after donated.

The nurse said we could take off the plaster after 1 hour or so. I took mine off after lunch which was after 2 hours. And I can still see my blood slowly flowing out and I had to re-stick the plaster back =.='' I took it off after another hour and that was how it looked like. There are small bruises around the injection area, which cannot be clearly seen from the photo. It's still pain if I move my hand too hard or if I press it.

My mini red certificate book!! Evidence that I donated blood and I pwned Kit whom till now not dare to go for blood donation, muahahaha.... *sei mei*

And this green bag is the gift we got IF we successfully donated our blood. My colleague who failed due to cough syrup didn't get any. My colleague exclaimed that she got one lousy bag after donating 450ml of blood, hahaha. She said should have give more attractive gift to attract more people to participate. To be frank, the response was rather poor in the morning session, not sure about the afternoon though. But in the end it's the heart that counts, not the return or gift we get after giving.

And now I am ending this post with another nice red sky which I snapped this evening. Good night everyone~~

PS: Wish I have a digital camera =x
