I actually wanted to blog about this 2 weeks ago. But I kinda forgot or lazy when I remember, and then forgot again, lazy.... you got the idea. 2 weeks ago, I woke up with this 1 question in my head. Don't ask me how, I don't know myself either =x
Well, the question was is fate and destiny the same thing? The first thing that came into my mind was, why the hell did I think of fate and destiny straight after I just woke up? I don't recalled having any dream. Weird =.=''
Anyway, I asked my friend about it at work. I actually copy his answer so I won't write anything wrong =P I asked him what is the difference between fate and destiny. Those were his answer.
"destiny is something u need to achieve i guess"
"fate is what u or others think a certain situation will become"
As for me, I thought destiny and fate has almost the similar meaning but not really the same. Ok, I don't even know what I am talking about now. Anyway I decided to check for the meaning from the net.
Thus, I search for th meaning in dictionary.com, and these are what I get.
Destiny
1. something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing; lot or fortune.
2. the predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events.
3. the power or agency that determines the course of events.
4. (initial capital letter) this power personified or represented as a goddess.
5. the Destinies, the Fates.
—Synonyms 1. fate, karma, kismet. 2. future.
Fate
1. something that unavoidably befalls a person; fortune; lot: It is always his fate to be left behind.
2. the universal principle or ultimate agency by which the order of things is presumably prescribed; the decreed cause of events; time: Fate decreed that they would never meet again.
3. that which is inevitably predetermined; destiny: Death is our ineluctable fate.
4. a prophetic declaration of what must be: The oracle pronounced their fate.
5. death, destruction, or ruin.
6. the Fates, Classical Mythology. the three goddesses of destiny, known to the Greeks as the Moerae and to the Romans as the Parcae.
Hmmm... fate = destiny and destiny = fate? o.O I always thought there is a fair thin line between destiny and fate. Feeling unsatisfied with the answer I got, I decided to check in wikipedia.
Destiny refers to a predetermined course of events. It may be conceived as a predetermined future, whether in general or of an individual. It is a concept based on the belief that there is a fixed natural order to the universe. Destiny may be seen either as a fixed sequence of events that is inevitable and unchangeable, or that individuals choose their own destiny by choosing different paths throughout their life.
Ok, so that is destiny. Next I typed in fate.
Fate is destiny, an inevitable course of events.

U can change your Fate and alter your Destiny with your effort or a little 'divine intervention'. I dun always believe that much in a 'fixed fate' like... 'its my fate to be poor' or 'i'm destined to go this way'. Change it! change yourself n the world around u changes!
actually m jus curious... so pi find the meaning...
