The Sire Museum Restaurant

Another very late post *ughh* Been kinda busy lately. Work gotten much busier, life gotten much hectic, hehe. Anyway, back to my post...

Celebrated my bro's birthday 2 months back at The Sire Museum Restaurant. Happened to bump into it while we were hunting for a place to celebrate his birthday in the net. Read the reviews from blogs, sounded not bad, so off we went.

The restaurant itself looks very small from the outside. Even the main entrance is kinda small. It actually situated along King Street, opposite the Great Eastern building. Across the main road would be the Dewan Sri Pinang building.

As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by a row of paintings, hang at the side of the wall. It gave out a very classic feel.

We walked further in along the narrow walkway and came to the second section of the restaurant, which is much spacious than the first section. The interior is not something I expected.

The stained glass ceiling is very high up. The light shone through the stained glass ceiling and creeped its way in between the potted plants hanging in mid air. Later on during the night, the room was light up with dim yellow light and finished off with some light soft music. Very nice ambient, elegant.

We were given the menus, but we took quite sometimes to take our orders. Since it was our first visit for all of us, we were quite indecisive of what to order. One of the waitress was even nice enough to offer to keep our birthday cake in the fridge.

Once we were done with our orders, we were served with complimentary fresh toasted cheese baguette. Not bad.

While waiting for our main courses, I snapped around at some random things xD

A small candle in a glass, placed on every tables. I kinda like it.

Orchid, also placed on every table. I was trying to find the most suitable angel to snap it but somewhat failed -.-

Some leaves sticking out from the wall behind our table. We thought they were fake till we touched them. They are definitely real leaves.

It didn't took very long for our main course to arrive. Mine was first, hehe.

My Seafood Carbonara Spaghetti. Pasta done al dente and very creamy sauce, just nice. Lots of fillings too. I like it =D

Baked Pan Sealed Red Snapper, Suki ordered this. I don't really like fish so don't want to comment on it. Suki said it was nice though.

Chicken, sorry can't remember the name of this dish. Su Yan ordered this, very filling dish. You should see the thickness of the chicken meat. Don't think I can finish it.

Roasted Lamb Chopped, my bro had this. It was served in 4 pieces of roasted mid lamb chop. I like this dish as well. The lamb chopped tasted slightly sweet and fragrant. A tad of wine can be tasted as well. Thumb up.

Fish, another dish that I can't remember it's name. My bro's friend ordered this, can't remember her name as well @_@'' She commented it was nice.

Mongolian Lamb Stew, Daniel Boii ordered this. Photo kinda blur T_T But the dish is not nice. The least tasty dish of the night, haha. Poor Daniel Boii, he regretted ordering it, lolz.

After our hearty meal, we proceeded to explore the third section of the restaurant. The Museum!! I read somewhere from the net, the whole antics in the museum are a donation from the Yeap Chor Ee's family. The antics were brought over from his home which is now the Wawasan Open University. The gallery not only contain antics and artifacts but also portraits and photographs of Yeap Chor Ee and his family members.

Two big chinese characters printed on the big gold-colored board, placed on top of the entrance to the museum. Don't know how to read it though =x

Taken this before we enter the gallery. Photographs are not allowed while inside the museum *wonders why, hmm...* But I do see some blogs with lots of photos from inside the museum. I guess they used to allow but not now.

The spiral staircase up the second level of the gallery. The gallery is actually bigger than we expected it would be. Three levels high, every sections full packed with antics. Too bad we can't take photograph. There are CCTVs everywhere!! -.-''

The big grand dinning table. Snapped this while hiding from the sight of the CCTV with my camera phone *guilty*

I snapped this after SY looked around and told me there was no CCTV in that section. Only after taking this photo do we realized that there IS actually a CCTV. Guess where it is. It's just beside where this framed money is hanged. I was actually standing in front of the CCTV. WTH?!? -.-'' *embarrassed and double the guilt*

Taken this along the corridor to the next section of the gallery. Daniel didn't want to join us visiting the gallery. Lonely Daniel Boii, sat all alone by himself, pity him.

When we got to the opposite side, there is a sign there stated "Meeting in Progress" and a staircase up to a closed door. That section was dark and kinda eerie, SY and I decided not to go up. Curious but not that brave, blek.

Only after everyone were back at the table, I know what is in the other side of the closed door. My bro and his friends talked too much while visiting the gallery that they didn't notice the sign there and just walked up the stair and opened the door. Once they saw what is inside, all of them kept quiet, closed the door and walked back down, hahaha.

The room is actually where they placed all the Yeap Chor Ee family's ancestral tablets. The gallery is also where they going to keep the Yeoh's family tree recorded for generations to come.

Once everyone is back at the table, the waitress asked us if we are ready to for the birthday cake. The cake were brought out from the kitchen, fully lit with candles and a birthday music on the background. So nice of them xD But I think due to all of us being too "paiseh" none of us actually sang out to the music. Poor response on our part, zzz -.-''

Da birthday cake, Tiramisu. Quite nice, not too sweet.

Some random shots from the restaurant.

One of my bro's prezzie, hehe

Do pay this fine dining restaurant a visit. The historic dining experience is not something you can get anywhere =D
