Went to bed early 4am++ that Sunday morning. Lina called and later texted me at 5am++ to tell me it was still raining and she didn't want to go. I fell asleep almost immediately after I read her message. Woke up a bit late, my friends were already at my place when I was about to go for a quick shower.
We started our journey around 7.30am. Mei Ling prepared egg sandwiches for all of us for our breakfast. I was forced to eat Lina's portion, zzz. It had been raining since the day before, so we weren't sure if it was raining over at Gopeng as well. I called the agency earlier, the lady at the other end said it was drizzling but it was still okay for rafting.
Halfway throughout the journey, the agency called and told us they need to reschedule our agendas of the day. We were supposed to be doing caving in the morning and rafting in the afternoon after our lunch. But because of the rain the night before, Gua Tempurung was closed for that time being. The agency moved up our rafting session to the morning and caving in the afternoon. Either way was fine for us as long as they don't cancel the whole thing and we need to go back Penang -.-
We reached Gopeng at around 9.30am, and it felt like the longest 2 hours I ever drove. It rained almost throughout the whole journey, and I needed to drive slowly than I normally does on highway. We were supposed to meet someone called Max at Gua Tempurung, where we finally managed to get there somehow.
When we reached Gua Tempurung, the Riverbug's van was already there. Met up with Max and he told us he was our tour guide and raft master for the day. Hopped into the van, he drove us to the resort. The journey to the resort was quite a distant. We passed a Malay Kampung and there was this signboard which I think was placed by the locals. It reads "Segan Tanya, Sesatla Jalan". Cute choice of words, but very true. It's a rural area where one can easily got lost, and I am not sure if the resorts can be found in the GPS.
The road going uphill was narrow, steep and dangerous. Make one simple careless mistake, and it would been a disaster. Max drove away so easily, as if it was nothing and honked at every sharp corner for any incoming cars. The road is so narrow that it just fit nicely for 1 car, and no car can be together-gether side by side. If there happen to be an incoming car, either car will need to find a place by the side and gives way to the other car.
We finally reach the resorts after half an hour I think. Didn't really looked at the time, but it did felt that long =P Max dropped us at the warehouse, and we are free looked around the place till it was time for rafting. The photo on top is the warehouse, where they store all the boats and equipments.
Bamboo fence, haven't seen that for quite a while now.
Path to nowhere. Actually I don't where it leads to, blek.
Our rafting boats. Wooi!!~~ Mei Ling, notice anything different with the photo on top? xD
Our gears and equipments.

Happily walking down the road to the river.
All geared up and ready to paddle. Paddle or Die!!~~
A short briefing from Max. Some of the command such as paddle forward, paddle backward, right forward left backward and left forward right backward is pretty straightforward. The unique command that we learnt would be 'boom boom'. Whenever this command is given, we need to move very fast to the middle of the boat, our bodies and heads lies low. Most of the time we 'boom-boommed' during high and strong rapids.
Took some photos of the river when we went down to take a look earlier. As you can see from the photos below, the water level is quite high and the rapids are very strong. According to Den, another raft master, due to the rain on Saturday night and earlier that morning, the water level was at medium-high level. And he further added that the possibilities to capsize is very high, zzz.
Big rocks at every corners.
Our starting point.
Further down the starting point.
The strong current from the river, scary yet exciting.
Locals staying in that area, used the bridge to get across to the other side. Earlier that morning, the water level was higher and it flooded and covered up the bridge. Wondered if there is an alternative route for them to cross. Hmm...
Marble rocks can easily be spotted here.
We got 1 family joining our rafting that morning. The parent got 2 kids and one of the kids is only 10. So they prepare this other boat to tail us, in case anyone of us fell off or one of the kids terhumban into the river or our boat capsize, these guys will be there to our rescue.

Stopped at one section of the river for a rest and to snap some photos. The river here was calmer and we have no difficulty going quite far out from the err.. shore =x
Ai Ling decided to sit down and ended up can't get herself up, hahaha. Even managed to strike a pose while being stuck.
And instead of helping her friend up, I stood there laughing, wakakaka. I am bad, I know, but it was hilarious at that moment =P
Max said the river flows from Cameron Highland, which explain the freezing cold water. As you can see, Mei Ling is a good example.

This is our raft master Max. Nice and fun guy.
Den, the other raft master who joined us in our boat. Normally there would only be one raft master, but Den joined our boat that day as there were kids joining us.
Oh ya, I forgot to mention about a kayaker who joined our rafting session as well. He was in charge of taking photos while we paddled for our lives. And he's a real pro. He moved very fast despite the big rocks everywhere and he can overturned himself into the river and back up to the surface. And despite the very strong rapids and currents going downhill, he can still paddled against the rapids going uphill, zzz.
I requested from Den if the kayaker (sorry, I didn't know his name) can shows us some moves. He agreed to it and displayed some very nice moves while I tried to snap them. Below are some of the good shots to share.
90 degree and getting ready to go under.
Under the sea~~ under the sea~~ *can't seem to stop myself from imagining Mei Ling singing this song =P*

After the short break, we continue with our journey down the Kampar River for 10km, fighting strong water rapids and boom-boom-ing our way through. Our boat almost capsized twice, and there was once when my side of the boat went up to about 45 degree and I saw the nose of the boat in the air -.-'' Luckily we didn't capsize, as we got 2 raft master on the boat with us. And they managed to overcome all the possible obstacles that would made our boat capsize.
The last few kilometers, we did body rafting. Body rafting is basically where you just lay with your back on the water, don't face against the current unless you want to choke yourself, move your legs like you are cycling a bicyle and move your hands like you are making snow angel. Understand? No? Then just lay down on your back and let the current bring you downstream. That was exactly what I did when my hands and legs got tired, blek.
Rafting over, wet all over~~ A photo with the pro kayaker xD
With Den and Max inside the lorry -.-''
Our boat, after flatten. Being carried to the back of the lorry.
Our wet gears.
And we got a certificate for challenging and 'surviving' the White River Rafting in Kampar River. But the certificate look like some kind of brochure though =x
Well, that's the end of the rafting. Stay tune for our caving exploration ^^
