typical malaysian culture

I just got back from my company dinner. Actually it was more like a team dinner. Went to The Islander at Traders Hotel. Snapped quite a few pictures there. But tonight am not going to blog about it yet. Maybe tomorrow. Now am going to blog about something which happened on my way back home.

I was at the traffic light near Masjid Negeri and I didn't notice there was a jam ahead of me just in front of the masjid. When the light turned green I was wondering why I had to stop just after moving a few metres. I looked out to the side and saw lots of motors parking beside the road and a crowd of people just stood there, looking at something. My guess was, of course, nothing else but accident.

In Malaysia, if you happen to see situations like these, you will bound to know there is an accident nearby.
  • Sudden jam in the middle of an unbusy road.
  • Cars drive by very very slowly, passengers, drivers and even motorcyclists keep staring to the side. If you focus enough, you might even see they would be writing something or on their mobile phone talking and waving their hands like mad.
  • Drivers and motorcyclists would park their cars and motors at the side. Then they would just stand there and stare as if something else going to happen. (Stop and stare~~, blek)
  • Lots of onlookers but no police or ambulance.
It has become a typical Malaysian culture now for people to look whenever there is an accident anywhere. Even if the accident is on the opposite side of the road, people on the other side will still look and caused jam on the non-accident road, zzz... That is just how bad the culture is.

There was once I asked a friend of mine of why this happened. What so nice about accident that make them want to look that much? Even to the extend to slowing down their cars and take their own sweet time and ban ban menghayati the accident. She simply answered me maybe they like to see hancur motors or kemik cars =.= Then I told her might as well bang their own cars or motors then just sit there and ban ban stare at it. Her turn to =.= me. After that she said, maybe at first all just 'tao lao juak', since everyone look, so ma look also lo. Then after a long period of always 'tao lao juak' it becomes like a habit and eventually into a Malaysian culture.

I was like =.= then =.='' then =.= again and lastly =x. Totally speechless. What she said was not actually logical but it does make sense in a way. Deep. Somehow I was awe struck by what she said.

But still, I do hope this culture would slowy subside in future. And somehow, I don't feel it would be very soon ~.~

PS: Stupid bullet point cannot work, zzz...

well, once we've identified bad habits we can learn to avoid doing the same thing. sometimes we ourselves did these and didn't actually knew it could be this bad until one day we as a bystanders witness what others are doing. life teaches us, so learn from life. :)
start from ourselves... :)

=.='' for your again... hahaha.... hmmm... MY famous in producing gossiper... This kind of situation is normal to me as i'm the one myself... kakaka... but i'm not that serious as the said roadside viewers.. i just take a peek only... Surely hope that this bad habit or some say MY culture will vanished forever so that there won't exist any unnecessary jam... MY boleh or tak boleh depends on people's attitude now...

Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah I know that everyone gets scared
But I've become what I can't be, oh
Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you're 'here' not there
And you'd give anything to get what's fair
But fair ain't what you really need
Oh, can u see what I see

Kit: i dun think dis is much of a habits, it's more like 'kay-poh' kinda thingy which been around in M'sia since ages ago or it's 'since everyone doin it, i might as well join in the fun' kinda thingy. habits are very hard to get out of it, dis is more like resisting temptation. in dis case, accident temptation <_<

audrey: ah ha! guan lai u r one of the culprit in causing the jam. sneek a peek oso can cause jam liao la, since u nd to slow down to sneek a peek. 55 pi change urself, as Kit said, lalala~

dann: no, i dun see what u can see. OMG! i'm blind!, i'm blind!, blek... lame i know...
